What kinds of the hardness ?

Undoubtedly, hardness indicates the ability of materials which is to resist hard objects pressing into its surface. It is one of the important performance indexes of metal materials. The higher the hardness, the better the wear resistance.

1 (HB) brinell hardness

At a certain load (3000 kg) , press a certain size (10 mm in diameter) of a hardened steel ball into the material surface, in a period of time, after loaded, the load with indentation area ratio, is the brinell hardness number (HB), the unit is kg force/was (N/was).

2.(HR) rockwell hardness

When HB>0 450 or sample is too small , the brinell hardness test cannot be used instead of rockwell hardness measurement.

It is a steel ball with a diamond cone or diameter of 1.59 and 3.18mm in a vertical Angle of 120. It is pressed into the surface of the tested material under certain load, and the hardness of the material is obtained by the depth of the indentation.

According to different experimental material hardness, the three kinds of different scale, HRA: is 60 kg load and drill coup-de-point forcer for hardness, used in high hardness materials, such as cemented carbide, etc.).

HRB: it is a steel ball with 100kg payload and 1.58mm diameter, and the hardness is obtained for low hardness materials (such as annealed steel, cast iron, etc.).

HRC: it is the hardness of 150kg load and drilling cone press. It is used for materials with high hardness (such as quenched steel etc.).
